Gender Equality: priorities odf the project

GEPE addresses mainly two priorities:
- social inclusion
- promoting the acquisition of skills and competences

SOCIAL INCLUSION
Gender equality is an objective of the 2030 Agenda of the European Union. It means equality between women and men and empowerment of women and girls. The fact that it has not been achieved yet is a source of social exclusion for women. It affects their opportunities in every walk of life. The mechanisms of gender inequality are complex and start with education.
GEPE intends to contribute to:
a) make male and female students understand how and why women and men do not have the same opportunities today in European countries,
b) give students an opportunity to act at their level against  gender inequality,

c) include students in collaborative work with European partners whatever their financial or learning difficulties

PROMOTE THE ACQUISITION OF
SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
In order to be fully integrated in the sustainable development of Europe as set by the 2030 Agenda, young people need skills and competences. They acquire a number of them in their respective school education but GEPE aims at giving them a chance to:
a) develop problem solving skills:  work on a common problem with students from different cultural, social and economic backgrounds,
b) develop communication skills: foreign languages, ICT, social networking, advertising,
c) develop collaborative skills: team work, management, results, assessment,
d) develop competences: in Art in Literature, in Maths, History and other fields
e) develop the ability to work at trans-disciplinary level,
f) develop a competence to adapt to the diversity of contexts within the European Union which will help job mobility.
In turn the aim is to contribute to develop volunteering, commitment, active citizenship, self-promotion and job seeking ability.
Teachers, students and school staff need competences too to integrate or improve education to gender equality in their professional practice. GEPE is offering them the opportunity to:
a) participate in a practical, three-year experience with students to analyse the difficulties and the achievements of education to gender equality,
b) participate in a seminar to assess the results of the experience, discuss methodology and work out recommendations.

c) develop an ability to work with other professionals outside their specialist area, their school or their country.
