UN: Gender Equality page

Here you have the link for the United Nations page on Gender Equality, a very great number of resources

"Women and girls represent half of the world’s population and, therefore, also half of its potential. Gender equality, besides being a fundamental human right, is essential to achieve peaceful societies, with full human potential and sustainable development. Moreover, it has been shown that empowering women spurs productivity and economic growth."

"The UN Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres has stated that achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls is the unfinished business of our time, and the greatest human rights challenge in our world."

Always: "run like a girl" - fighting stereotypes

"You have to be girly"

"Join Always in our epic battle to keep girls' confidence high during puberty and beyond.
Using #LikeAGirl as an insult is a hard knock against any adolescent girl.
And since the rest of puberty's really no picnic either, it's easy to see what a huge impact it can have on a girl's self-confidence.
Making a start by showing them that doing things #LikeAGirl is an awesome thing!

"In my work as a documentarian, I have witnessed the confidence crisis among girls and the negative impact of stereotypes first-hand," said Lauren Greenfield, filmmaker and director of the #LikeAGirl video.
"When the words 'like a girl' are used to mean something bad, it is profoundly disempowering. I am proud to partner with Always to shed light on how this simple phrase can have a significant and long-lasting impact on girls and women. I am excited to be a part of the movement to redefine 'like a girl' into a positive affirmation."

How parents influence kid's gender

“In our home, I take on a lot of responsibilities that previous generations would have scoffed at,” says Whit Honea, a co-founder of Dads 4 Change. In a new episode of Home School, The Atlantic’s animated series about parenting, Honea explains why, in a culture where outdated gender stereotypes are “very much alive,” parents shouldn’t dictate gender roles to their children.

“By no means do I want to imply that it's wrong for kids to embrace things that they enjoy just because it falls on one [gender] or the other—just that it shouldn't be mandated by us,” Honea says.

Climate action and women's leaders

"Tackling this Climate Crisis is going to require all of us. Women and marginalized communities are a fountain of solutions and knowledge when it comes to fighting climate change."

International Women's day 2020

"Around the world and through the decades, we have all shared in the global struggle for gender equality. From the Suffragettes to the Ni Una Menos movement and from Sojourner Truth to Malala Yousafzai, activists and women’s movements have stood up and spoken out for a fairer world, time and time again.
Regardless of our age, country, background or gender, the fight for equal rights has collectively defined our lives and we must take action together to achieve it.

This International Women’s Day, UN Women’s multi-generational campaign,
 Generation Equality
brings together past and present advocates to demand gender equality in this generation. 25 years since the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action in 1995, the campaign mobilizes governments and civil society to take bold action and keep the promises of the visionary agenda for gender equality."

UN: Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women

Here you have the United Nations webpage for the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women

"It watches over the progress for women made in those countries that are the States parties to the 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. A country becomes a State party by ratifying or acceding to the Convention and thereby accepting a legal obligation to counteract discrimination against women. The Committee monitors the implementation of national measures to fulfil this obligation."

New York Times: a call for aid, not laws, to help women in Italy

"Responding to the persistent problem of violence against women, Prime Minister Enrico Letta this month announced “very harsh, very tough” measures to counter domestic abuse and what he called “femicide,” the killing of women because they are women, often at the hands of current or former husbands or boyfriends.

The 12-point decree, effective immediately, sets stricter penalties for the perpetrators of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking, and it expands protections for some of the most vulnerable women, including immigrants who lack residency permits."

10 Questions to Gender Equality between father and son

UNICEF: Gender Equality

Gender equality Equal rights and opportunities for girls and boys help all children fulfil their potential.

"Twenty years after the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was adopted by 189 Member states meeting in China, its stature and significance as a roadmap for the achievement of gender equality remains undiminished. This pivotal document continues to guide the global struggle against constraints and obstacles to the empowerment of women around the world.
In the face of new forces threatening to curtail the rights of women and girls, we must return to the agenda set by the Platform for Action and renew our commitment to carry it out in full.
This milestone anniversary coincides with the once-in-a-generation opportunity presented in 2015. During this single year, we must do our utmost to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, adopt a post-2015 agenda with a new generation of sustainable development goals, and approve a meaningful, universal climate agreement.
As we look ahead to creating a more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful world, I applaud the visionary leadership of those who crafted the Platform for Action and urge a new generation of gender equality advocates to join me in advancing this cause. When we empower women and girls, we will realize a better future for all."

Gender Equality in Pescara: some spots for our region

A wonderful spot for Abruzzo, from our town we can see two mountains: the Gran Sasso (the highest mountain of the Appennines) and the Majella, whose name is related with an ancient legend:

Another wonderful spot for Abruzzo, shot by a drone to discover our region:

From dawn to sunset in Abruzzo:

Stop killing women

Red like blood, like love, like an open and painful wound.
Red like shame...
because we are still ashamed when the "monster" who says he loves us stretches his hands over our body,
and mistreats us,
and rapes us,
and rips our hearts out.
Red like the red shoes of women who filled the streets to say stop to femicides.
