Gender Equality in Milhaud: Italian students' report

In the meeting in Milhaud for students of the Liceo Statale Marconi were involved: Alexandra Caldararu, Erica Verzella, Martina Cocco and Simona Valentinetti. Here you have their reports:

My Erasmus+ experience was one of the best of my life.
During the week I met new people from different countries, I discovered French customs and I had the opportunity to live in an amazing family.
Thanks to this project I could test my skills in different contexts and I tried to learn some words in French.
Luckily all the people I met could speak English, so I improved it and I had no problem to communicate.
Everyone was kind and helpful, and I met people that I’ll never forget.
The theme of this Erasmus+ was “Gender equality” and I was very impressed because all the activities were interesting and related to the topic.
I suggest this experience to everyone who wants to make new friends and is interested in the gender equality.

Erica

My Erasmus+ experience has been great.
I had the opportunity to talk a lot of languages that I know included French with all French people and English with the others from other countries.
Living one week with them has learned me more about their culture and traditions.
Finally, it was an educational experience about the gender equality, the topic in which all the countries are involved.
I recommend this experience to everyone that love travelling and learning more things about other countries.

Alexandra

This project helped me to know myself more and at the same time to improve my English.
I discovered another side of me and I learnt a lot of new things about the other countries and gender equality.
I met new people that I will always bring in my heart and I lived moments that I will never forget.
I established new relationships and I didn't want to come back to reality, I felt like I lived a dream that helped me to grow as a student and as a person.
I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get involved and improve their English.
Thank you for this amazing opportunity.

Martina

This fantastic journey meant a lot for me.
It was a mix between culture and friendship, in fact I knew friends and I found out new more.
I’m very proud of it because it was such a real exchange project.
I have to thank my school and Europe to give me this amazing experience, at the beginning I was a bit anxious because I have never been in France before this travel.
But after it I understand how beautiful can be this country.
I only can spend good words about it, because everything was perfect: journeys, games, parties at school...
I had a really great time.
I recommend it to everyone.
Thank you.

Gender Equality in Milhaud: the Lycée Geneviève de Gaulle Anthonioz

The Lycée Geneviève de Gaulle Anthonioz of Milhaud organized a meeting that has been geared towards organizing a GEPE day at the end of the meeting.

Teachers and students have collaborated beforehand and during the meeting to decide on the programme, the conditions, the advertising, the place, the date, and everything else it was useful to organize the GEPE day.

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women being on November 25 has been helpful for us because we could organize some activities related to the item.

One of the activities in Milahud was to visit the Lycée Geneviève de Gaulle Anthonioz of Milhaud.

Gender Equality in Pescara: video for the presentation of Abruzzo

Here you have a video to present our region and our town:

Gender Equality in Pescara: the objectives

Gender Equality : from Principle to Empowerment (GEPE) is a project of cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices between schools dealing with the issue of gender equality.
Gender  equality has been a concern of the United Nations and the European Union for years. It is specifically stated in treaties as a fundamental principle and in  agendas as a goal to reach. Each member state is to make sure this principle is respected and still everywhere in Europe, women are fewer than men in political assemblies or boardrooms. They are also the most frequent victims of poverty, precarious and part-time jobs, of unemployment, of domestic violence, of sexual harassment. They have to put up with a pay gap and a glass ceiling and they are not always allowed to make their own decisions as regards pregnancy and abortion. The situation may vary from one country to the next but gender equality cannot be considered as being achieved yet.
So the starting point of the project was the following question: if gender equality is already written in the law, then what is needed to trigger a real change? How can we go from principle to empowerment?
The inequality between women and men is partly based on a number of stereotypes that are instilled in children through education and that allow inequalities to be perpetuated. So if we can act on these stereotypes, give students an insight into the situation at home and abroad and convince them of the importance of the issue, they may in the future contribute to an evolution in the right direction.
This project is aimed at  high school students in the partner schools but also at adults, teachers, social workers, carreer advisers who work with young people.
Students and educators are concentrated first on getting a good knowledge of the situation of women both in their country and in Europe. Then they have tried and understood how things work and why. Finally they have been encouraged to imagine ways of fighting gender inequality and go into action.
We will improve the participants' competences in languages, ICT, collaborating at a European level, project management and therefore  will contribute to their citizenship education and their ability to find work at a local, national and European level.
In the long term the impact of the project should be felt on students behaviour, their choice of study or career, their abitlity to commit themselves on the issue and their desire to go and study or live abroad. It should encourage teachers to change their practice in order to be more attentive to the issue. In due course the reflexion and the tools created should be transferable to others.
